Role / Team Overview 1

The Role

This role forms a critical part of the regional support team at Savills in the Middle East and is responsible for the management of the compliance and regulatory framework, overseeing all plc reporting and internal/external auditing. Savills Middle East employs over 450 employees with offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Oman, Bahrain, KSA and Egypt.

Key Responsibilities

Assist HR with the onboarding of new joiners by way of introduction and presenting of the Compliance processes, procedures and trainings in place
Complete Enhanced Due Diligence on clients considered to be high-risk as per the Client Onboarding Policy
Monthly testing of new clients and the completion of KYC
Manage the Learning Management System and track the completion rates of mandatory training modules across the ME, escalating internally where necessary
Co-ordination of reporting submissions to Group such as Health and Safety, Environmental sustainability, Insurance policy details, Gifts and Entertainment and whistleblowing activities
Annual review of policies and procedures across the business to ensure compliance
Identify and manage potential regulatory and non-regulatory risks through thorough ongoing risk assessments
Maintain awareness of local regulations and standards to understand and quantify risks to the business
Providing oversight of risk management and compliance activities across the business including communication, co-ordination, reporting and follow ups with the local teams
Completion of the annual ‘Self-Assessment Questionnaire’ (SAQ) submissions for the country and identify and agree actions required to address gaps and weaknesses
Maintain the regional/country risk registers, project ownership and management of compliance initiatives either driven by region/group, third party bodies or country/regional regulators (e.g. GCC)
Provide support and guidance to the business for areas that may have been identified as requiring focus
Ongoing tracking of open actions in relation to Internal Audit issues, SAQs, Top Risks and any others that might have been identified during third party/internal visits.
Reporting and communication and liaising with Group Legal and with Group Risk and Internal Audit as required
Successfully build a network of key points of contact across functions and geographies within the Group including but not limited to Risk & Compliance peers across the EME region
Continually drive improvement in quality & efficiency of processes through alignment of local/global processes & policies
Develop and manage ME compliance “connect” intranet site to best support the business
Account manage relationships with third party support providers – e.g. training, compliance checks.

Skills, Knowledge And Experience

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
Shows initiative and is not afraid to challenge, whilst remaining diplomatic
Business acumen and professionalism is required due to the exposure to all levels of the business and build positive relationships with colleagues across Europe & Middle East
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise their task list and manage expectations
Ability to work flexibly and be adaptable to change
Commercially minded, with the enthusiasm to learn and deliver high standards at all times
Bachelor’s degree holder, all relevant professional qualifications and experience considered
At least 4 years compliance experience in a multinational is a must
Solid understanding of all Microsoft applications but specifically excel.
