About Us
Jay Pritzker founded Hyatt in 1957 when he purchased the Hyatt House motel near Los Angeles International Airport. Over the next decade, Jay Pritzker and his brother Donald Pritzker, working with other Pritzker family businesses, grew the company from a North American management and hotelier company that became a public company in 1962. By 1968, Hyatt International was established and later. became a separate joint stock company.
Hyatt Corporation and Hyatt International Corporation were taken private by Pritzker family business interests in 1979 and 1982 respectively. On December 31, 2004, substantially all of the housing properties owned by Pritzker family businesses, including Hyatt Corporation and Hyatt International Corporation , were consolidated. one unit, now Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
The Hyatt Regency Atlanta is the first Hyatt Regency property. The dramatic, 22-story atrium lobby and innovative design inspire many imitators and define Hyatt as a global leader in hospitality.
